Getting the ground right first time
Every building is only as good as what's underneath it. We carry out groundworks for commercial units, extensions, schools and housing sites across Yorkshire, from the first dig to a finished slab.
We run our own Kenny-branded excavators and dumpers, operated by our own team. That means the right machine turns up when the programme needs it, and the people setting out your foundations are the same people who will be back to pour the slab.
Groundworks is also where most of a job's risk sits: unknown services, poor ground, water, and levels that don't quite work. We check levels with a laser as we dig, keep the site tidy and fenced, and flag anything unexpected straight away so it can be dealt with before it becomes a delay.
We can take on groundworks as a standalone package for another main contractor, or as the first stage of a full new build or extension that we deliver from start to finish.

Site clearance & set-up
Clearing vegetation and old hardstanding, then setting up a secure site with Heras fencing, signage, welfare and safe access routes.
Bulk & foundation excavation
Reduced-level digs, trenches and pad excavations, set out and checked with a rotating laser level as we go.
Strip & pad foundations
Concrete foundations to the engineer's design, ready for building control inspection before the pour.
Reinforced concrete slabs
Compacted sub-base, membranes, steel fixing and formwork, a pumped pour and a power-floated finish for warehouse and unit floors.
Below-ground drainage
New foul and surface water runs, manholes and connections, laid to falls and ready for testing.
Sub-bases & external works
Stone sub-bases, hardstandings, kerbs and paths around the building so the site is finished, not just the structure.

Most of our groundworks is for commercial and public-sector buildings: new industrial units, extensions to schools and healthcare buildings, and slabs for workshops and warehouses.
We also work for main contractors who need a reliable groundworks package, and for developers and landlords preparing a site for a new building.

Do you use your own plant?
Yes. We run our own excavators and dumpers, operated by our own team. It means we're not waiting on hire companies, and the people operating the machines know the job.
Can you do the concrete slab as well as the groundworks?
Yes. We regularly take a job from excavation through sub-base, steel fixing and formwork to a pumped pour and a power-floated finish, so there's no handover gap between trades.
Do you install drainage?
Yes. We lay new below-ground foul and surface water drainage, including manholes and connections, as part of a groundworks package or as a separate job.
Will you work as a subcontractor to a main contractor?
Yes. We're happy to price groundworks as a package for another contractor, as well as delivering complete projects ourselves.
